{Field Day}

Nothing screams "end of the school year" better than FIELD DAY! Everyone brings a sack lunch, bottled water and sunscreen to beat the heat.
Mira signed me up to volunteer on the first shift of the morning! So, I was in charge of station number 11 - the target (it was really skee ball made from landscaping material and duct tape). A definite crown pleaser. Especially when the one who volunteered to shag the balls for the group would put their face right in front of the target, begging to be pegged in the head with the tennis balls!

DISCLAIMER: No students were injured while I was on duty :)

Talent show

Today was the talent show at Mira's school and Nolan & O took a jog over to watch. I haven't figured out how to download the video from my Blackberry yet, but check back for it. Mira and her friend, Lindsey, played "Heart & Soul" as a duet on the piano.

On the way home, I stopped to snap more pictures of the fantastic view! I just can't seem to get enough these days. So happy to have such beauty surrounding us.

{Flight Park}

For those who may not know, out town is best known as the premier venue for hangliding and paragliding. On the nice evenings, we like to take a picnic or (if we've already eaten dinner) a treat and drinks and walk up to the flight park where they all take off.

I'm not sure what the requirements are for proper paragliding conditions, but there must be some pretty specific guidelines, since some nights there's not a single one out there. It's for sure in the later evenings (like 6:30-8:30) and not when it's too hot. So, when we see them flying over our house we know it's a good time to go up.

All enthusiasts are gathered with friends, families and dogs to hang out & enjoy the sport. Some also bring remote control helicopters and airplanes to fly since it's such a wide open spot.

There are these flat "pads" where you can set up the hangliders. I never knew how much was involved in getting them ready. Where as the paragliders pull their gear out of the bag, strap in on their backs and wait for a big gust of wind so they can make a run for the edge (well, maybe that's slightly over simplified...).

It's awesome to watch these guys take off....and even more exciting to watch them come in. Maybe one of these days I'll get to try it for myself?

Slide, slide, slippity slide...

The day was BEGGING us to blow the dust off the slip n' slide! Hot sun, popsicles and loads of sunscreen....just add water:

Lazy summer days...

Today Lauren & I went on a walk around our neighborhood. No agenda, no plans so what better to do than get out & enjoy these lazy days of summer?!?
And with Nolan in tow (in my favorite jogger stroller in the background), we CAN'T pass the park & not stop in! After we played around at the park, we left out through the tennis courts and stopped to admire the view...

We really do have such beautiful scenery here, especially down our end of the valley. I wish these pictures did it justice! It's even more amazing at night when the I-15 freeway looks like an artery running straight to the heart of Salt Lake City. I'm so thankful we live where we do :)

Flower update

This summer has been such a long time coming! We've had an unusual amount of rain here in Utah, but all the same I like to keep an update on the growth of our annual flower garden. This time it's just on the driveway borders:

The picture on the left was May 29th and the one on the right is June 23rd. Even with all the rain and not so much sunshine, they seem to be doing quite well and we've only lost a few. the next update will be the center of the yard, which received another feeding of Miracle Gro today.

Where in the world?

Is this Paris? I WISH!

In the spirit of R & R, sunshine and fun times, where else can one venture to? Vegas, of course! No other place like it and I LOVE it!

This is the view from our hotel room:

This is a peek inside:

The sunshine rejuvenates so well, especially when it's nothing but cold & rainy at HOME. And Vegas delivered just that. Hot sun and cold drinks by the pool! I can't believe it's the middle of June....it feels like fall in Utah. But good times and good friends make the soul happy. Nice & refreshed (sort of) we'll travel home and take with us more fond memories.
